Obituary

Eloise Houston Dunn

Born September 2, 1933, Eloise Houston Dunn, passed away on November 29, 2020.  A descendent of Early California’s Sepulveda family, Eloise was very proud of being an eighth generation San Juan Capistrano native.  She attended Old Mission School and Capistrano Union High School.  Eloise married Douglas Dunn in 1956.  He preceded her in death in 2013.

Eloise’s outgoing personality served her well in jobs with Bell Telephone, Pacific Telephone, Bank of America, Beckman, and Verizon.  The work she most enjoyed was as the Mission Basilica and Serra Chapel Wedding Coordinator. She held this volunteer position for 35 years.  She was a past president of the San Juan Capistrano Historical Society, active in Los Californianos, sang in the Mission Choir and served on the Mission Basilica Parish Council.   Eloise loved organizing class reunions and helping with charity fund raisers.

Eloise is survived by daughter Linda (Kent) Falk, son Jeff Dunn, brother Sam (Irene) Houston, grandchildren Teresa (Jason) Mazzocchio, Mary (Sean) Ricks, Matthew (Hilary) Falk, Christa (Dan) Lipinski, twelve great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for December 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mission Basilica courtyard, restrictions permitting.  Interment immediately following at Ascension Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will take place sometime in 2021.
