Obituary

Barton (Bart) Edgar McCorvey was born in Montgomery, Alabama on May 26, 1965 and went to be with Our Lord and Savior on October 21, 2022. Bart fought the toughest battle of his life against Multiple Myeloma for 2 1/2 years and finished his last race well.(2 Timothy 4:7)

Bart was a storyteller and if he could get you to laugh (which was easy) his face would light up with a genuine smile and he would carry the story on longer, maybe tell it twice! He loved his Alabama roots and enjoyed a carefree childhood with an extended family, pets, ocean fishing, water and snow skiing, hunting and playing football.

As a young adult, Bart faced a life changing choice: Dad would pay off back rent if Bart joined the U.S. Army. He chose the latter and reminded his children that this experience changed his life and helped him become a man. When he returned from Germany, against the odds, Bart convinced the Dean that he could earn his Bachelors degree at Florida State in Accounting and he did. Bart moved to San Clemente in 1994, worked at accounting firms, enjoyed playing guitar and fell in love with California weather but remained a Florida State football fan!

Bart and Laura married in 2003. The McCorvey family blossomed raising sons: Samuel, Daniel and Ethan. Bart was the spiritual leader often reminding us all that God was the center of our lives and if we follow Him, our paths will be straight. Bart felt that Pacific Coast Church was family and outside of church enjoyed serving in food distribution ministries and a playground build for immigrants in Spain.

Bart McCorvey loved his family and enjoyed every part of being his sons’ biggest fan.  Countless miles were driven across the state of California for hundreds of soccer games, most recently in his favorite Ford Bronco. He loved table talk about soccer games, and encouraging his boys to achieve their personal goals. Bart loved reminiscing about family trips; he felt they brought the family closer together. He loved alternative rock and as a song writer, guitarist and singer recorded 3 CD’s.He enjoyed walks on the beach trail, setting benchmarks at the gym, cooking, especially in his outdoor pizza oven, watching the Seminoles win and more recently completed his custom set of TaylorMade golf clubs to improve his golf game.

A lifelong learner, Bart most recently was accepted into Villanova University’s Master’s program in Taxation law and was proud to finish his first class with an 87%!

Bart McCorvey’s professional accomplishments: US Army Veteran Honorable Discharge. Graduate Florida State University Accounting, Certified Public Accountant, licensed business owner; Distributor Biz Enterprises, State of CA and Utah Real Estate license, Florida mortgage broker license, registered song on MP3.

Bart will be remembered as a loving husband, father and son who was a follower of Christ. His kind, generous, easy going and friendly spirit will live on in all who knew him.

  1. Bart’s mother, Barabara, is the origin of his great gifts of laughter, agility, creative spirit, ingénue and love of Jesus. Bart was the never ending character in motion in his talented family. Music, the white sands of the Gulf, and true southern food were the center of his upbringing. Never a dull moment. I have watched this child grow into manhood and become a responsible citizen that I know his family will miss. Y’all just know his Alabama family sends condolences on your loss; carry on as he would have you do to continue that strong family tradition of love, music, a faith in God and serving mankind. We hurt along with you. Caroline and Heather

I could not believe the untimely passing away of Bart. I came to know him when he joined Inouye.with time I realised his talent, quick response to his clients needs and resolution of the problems presented to him. He was always available when needed..He was always a pleasure to talk to. Our discussions always started with the accounting issues but always ended with general topics of interest and his good sense of humour. It is sad that I am out of country till the end of November and will not be able to see him for one last time. I will always remember him not only as my accounts manager but as a friend and good, talented human being.
My heartfelt condolences to his family and his team at accounting office specifically to Ken Inouye who introduced him to me.

  4. I was fortunate enough. to spend many a night at a boy scout campfire talking with Bart. He had the best stories. I really admired watching his process from getting his CPA license to ultimately buying out partners of his firm, such a smart savvy hard working guy. I really feel blessed that the church started the men’s groups when it did, it gave me a chance to get to know Bart at a deeper level, Through this, I learned more about how great a dad he was as well gaining a greater understanding of his tenacity in his fight with cancer. We talked about playing golf together and I’m sad we never got that chance. Knowing he is in Heaven and the pain is gone is a relief for him. But I’m so very very sorry for your loss Laura, Sam, Daniel, and Ethan.

  5. We are so heartbroken to hear of Bart’s passing. What a wonderful husband, father and friend he was. We are so blessed to have known him for so many years. His smile will shine bright in our hearts until we see him again in heaven. We love you all and will be praying for peace and comfort.
