Obituary

Barbara Jeanne Kilkelly
January 3, 1928 – June 6, 2020

Barbara Jeanne Kilkelly, 92, of Laguna Woods passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 in her home surrounded by all of her family. She is survived by her husband, Bob Kilkelly, her sons Joe (Laurie) Kilkelly, John Kilkelly, her daughter Corinne (Martin) Morgenstern, her granddaughter Megan (Colin) Donnelly, 6 grandsons, Michael and Kevin Morgenstern, John Paul and Patrick (Alex) Kilkelly, James and Jordan McKenna and her 3 great grandchildren, Rory, Jack and Ryan Donnelly. She is predeceased by her son Bobby Kilkelly.

Barbara was born in Sacramento, California and graduated from LA High School in January 1946. She married her beloved husband Robert Edwin Kilkelly on May 5, 1951. “Bob” and Barbara were married for 69 years.

Barbara was an avid golfer and a member of 4 women’s golf clubs in Orange County. She was also a member of the Encore Women’s group. She loved to travel to Maui, Hawaii, her favorite island. But her biggest accomplishment and the one she was most proud of was her family. She was the “Matriarch” of our family and our Rock. She had an incredible sense of humor, wonderful laugh and the life of the party! She was also a devout Catholic and her faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of St. Kilian’s Church in Mission Viejo and then Corpus Christi in Aliso Viejo until her passing. She will be deeply missed by all her family. We loved her dearly.

A Rosary for Barbara will be held at St. Kilian’s on Friday, June 26 at 10:00 am with a Mass at 10:30 am., followed by burial at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest.

  1. Barbara was quit a special lady. From the day we met, I knew we were going to get along just fine. Barbara was the perfect example of someone who lived her life with integrity. We shared precious moments together.
She loved her husband Bob and her kids. She was as beautiful as her personality and didn’t hesitate to tell you what was on her mind.
I remember one day she gave me a recipe card and she said ” it’s easy, don’t worry. You can’t mess this up, that’s how easy it is”. I thought okay, I can do this.
I bought all the ingredients, put it together, cooked it and thought Wow! This is delicious.
So, I proudly took it to Barbara. I asked her the next day ” So. What did you think?” She responded with a little smirk ” it was awful” ‚ she said ” your just like my Corey she can’t cook for anything. ‚
We laughed…. she did like my turkey sandwiches.
Barbara was sweet, thoughtful, easy to talk to. It was such a pleasure working for her as her caregiver. It’s always important to me have a connection with your patient. She was special she made my job easy knowing she trusted to me to make the proper decisions for her and keeping her comfortable.
Barbara thank you for your wisdom and for choosing me to be a part of your journey.
    You will be missed.

  2. To all the Kilkelly Family,
Barbara was Mom’s best friend for nearly 60 years so I cannot remember life without her in it. When I think of her, I instantly smile. Her heart was filled with humor and laughter. I will forever carry her joyful memory with me.
With so much Love for her and you,
    Linda & Gary Vittori
