Barbara Gray “Pepper” Anderson

Barbara Gray “Pepper” Anderson passed away February 23, 2023 in Dana Point, California after a four year battle with Lewy Body dementia. She was born in Los Angeles, California and lived in California most of her life except four years in Sydney, Australia in the early 70’s. After completing her education, she became the youngest administrative assistant in the University of California system, working at both UCLA and UC Irvine. She subsequently moved to Sydney, Australia where she worked as the administrator for a real estate investment firm. Upon her return to California, Barbara and a friend worked their way across the United States as traveling secretaries, taking jobs in towns along the way through temp agencies. She then worked in Washington D.C. as secretary for one of the senior partners in a large law firm before returning to California. Upon her return, she began a secretarial service, Specialized Business Services. She joined a business women’s group where she was president of the association and a mentor for women. starting in business.

She had a strong belief in God and participated in church activities. It was through one of these activities she met her husband, Jerry Anderson. While they had no children, they were happily married for 38 years and had many friends and adventures. During that time, they enjoyed yachting along the Pacific Coast, scuba diving, and cruises with their yacht club as well as extensive travel through the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa and Central and South America. During the years they lived in the desert, Barbara was active in The Springs Country Club and a member of the women’s putting group before returning to Orange County.

She was kind, thoughtful, generous, witty and full of fun! She is survived by her husband, Jerry Anderson and her sisters Janet Flores and Betty St. Jean. A memorial service for Barbara will be held in the near future. Donations in her honor may be made to the Lewy Body Association, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn GA 30047.
