Arthur Fontecchio

Arthur Fontecchio, 100 years old, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on April 12, 2024. He entered this world on April 24, 1923 in Mamaroneck, NY, born to Joseph and Lena Fontecchio. Arthur married Celia Goodenough of Laguna Hills, California on December 19th 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

He was preceded in death by his brother Joe, his first wife Patricia and his two sons Arthur and Mark.

He is survived by his wife Celia; his step son, Pedro; his niece Linda, his nephews Steve and Ric, his daughters-in-law Linda and Doreen; his grandchildren Gina, Bryanna, Tahlia and Kane; his great-grandchildren Kylee, Bayley, Logan; his great-great-grandchildren Edyson, Saylor, Wes and Odette.

Arthur served 4 years in the Navy during WWII.  He was recognized for his participation in the American War Theater, Asiatic-Pacific and Philippine Liberation. He was awarded a Presidential Citation and the Victory Medal. He and Celia had the joy of traveling the world. They cruised to Argentina where Arthur met Celia’s family and enjoyed a trip to Italy where his forebears originated.

A graveside service for Arthur Fontecchio will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 1:30 PM at El Toro Memorial Park 25751 Trabuco Rd, Lake Forest, CA 92630.

 

Arthur’s favorite charities were St Jude and ASPCA.

    Celia, I am so sorry for your loss. I and I’m sure everyone in the neighborhood will miss seeing art walking out to get his exercise. I’m glad that I got to know him somewhat and was able to get him a little bit of help from the VA. He will be missed.
