Obituary
Alice Marie Pickett, age 88, of Mission Viejo, formerly of Long Beach, passed away Thursday, May 20, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty four years, Frank Pickett. She is survived by six children, thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The surviving children are Rosemary Bob McGuire, Franklin Karen Pickett, Denis Debbie Pickett, Patti Bob Taylor, Joe Piera Pickett, and Gary Nancy Pickett.
Alice was the oldest of five children, born in San Francisco, CA on August 22, 1915. She was raised in the Bay Area and there married Frank Pickett in 1938. Doctors told her she would never have kids, so she proceeded to have six. Frank and Alice moved to Chicago, and then to Long Beach in 1954. Alice was always involved with her church wherever she lived, but St. Barnabas in Long Beach was dearest to her and where she was twice Parish Council President. She also supported and was President of the St. Mary Medical Center Guild, the Sacred Heart Retreat House in Alhambra, and the Sisters of the Holy Family Guild. She spread her faith in Christ, her good works, and her happy attitude wherever she went. If you missed meeting her, you missed a lot. She will be sorely missed. A Rosary service will be held on Monday, May 24 at O?Connor Laguna Hills Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Pkwy., Laguna Hills, 7:30 pm, and Funeral Mass at St.Kilian Church, 26872 Estanciero Dr. Mission Viejo, at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 25. Family requests any donations be made to the St. Mary Medical Center Foundation.
