Obituary

Shirley Ruth Iacono passed away on Saturday July 8, 2017 at home in Newport Beach, CA. She was 78 years old.

Shirley was born on May 19, 1939 in San Pedro, California to Mitchell Dwaine Dunn and Mary Agostino Dunn and lived in San Pedro until 1995 when she and Frank moved to Orange County.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 63 years Frank G. Iacono; daughter Dawn DiMeglio (Vincent); grandsons Frank DiMeglio (Lahni), Vincent DiMeglio (April), and Michael DiMeglio; great-grand daughters Ava and Ella DiMeglio; sisters Jean Dagel and Joyce Flint.

Shirley loved to express herself through her art and other creative outlets. She designed jewelry, enjoyed painting and loved to sing, recording a CD on which she sang her favorite songs. One of Shirley’s favorite ways to express her creativity was through decorating. Whether it be one of her and Frank’s homes, boats, or their tennis club, which was such a big part of her life for many years. Shirley was also a gourmet cook and enjoyed entertaining and hosting dinners for her family and friends.

Another important part of her life was charitable work. She was involved with the Ronald McDonald Tea, a fundraiser that raises money for the Orange County Ronald McDonald House and the Beckstrand Cancer Foundation which provides assistance and support to cancer patients and their families.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 18th at 11:00am at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 2046 Mar Vista Dr. Newport Beach, CA 92660. A private interment will be at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Shirley’s name to City of Hope Hospital.
