Mark was a leader, an innovator, an athlete, and an intrepid adventurer. He was dedicated to his family, a loyal friend, a conscientious employee, and a wonderful brother. He throve on excellence in fact, he embodied it.

Life was a treasure trove of opportunity for Mark and his boundless energy. He loved finding and creating challenges, and involving others in them. From his individual accomplishments in volleyball, skiing, running and triathlons grew a desire to create adventure and challenges for others. He created the Big Bear Triathlon Series rated Top Ten in the United States – and the ongoing 8000 Meter Challenge.

Mark drew people to him, and created wonderful experiences as a way to extend his reach. In his work, there was always a sense of fun. Mark’s many successes convinced him that people had great potential, and he expected people to operate at their best level and to have fun and adventure while doing so. To be around Mark was to have a warrantee against boredom and a sure ticket for an adventure.

Mark also was a man who believed in carrying his own weight. Independence, integrity, and accountability were the elements of Mark’s core. If you knew Mark, you knew you could count on his word. You knew he would bring value to any proposition – and you sure wanted him on your team.

Mark was a beacon and a catalyst, a human alchemist. Those who knew Mark had ordinary parts of their lives transmuted to extra-ordinary, exceptional and exhilarating events.

The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations to help with medical costs be made through Big Bear Lake Union Bank, care of Cathy Fulton.

  1. Mark was an amazing person that had incredible energy and passion for everything he did. We admired his athleticism and how he could be so good at things and yet always supportive and humble to others. We loved Mark’s sense of humor and creativeness in practical jokes. We respected his amazing talents for business. The world will miss him as will we.

Our hearts go out to his family and friends.

  2. I can not even put into words the shock and sadness that I am feeling. Mark was my high school sweetheart, and although I have not seen him in many years I have always had a special place in my heart for him. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Fulton family. I am so sorry for your loss.

  3. Mark was way more than just a sales director. He truly was a friend as well as a mentor, not only on the business sense but also on the personal front. His simplicity, dignity and open mindedness made him a well-respected person in the Canadian sport trade. Cathy, Miles, Kinsey,Ali and family, I hope you will be able to find peace in Mark passing without too much pain. I’m sure Mark will always be there with you in spirit, at the mountain or in your day to day life.

We were completely shocked and saddened when my brother Chris called Sunday with the heartbreaking news of Marks passing. Mark was such a gifted athlete and excelled at many sports and his knowledge of skiing was second to none. Unfortunately, many years have slipped by since we have spoken as our daily lives with work and family consume alot of time and energy.
Regardless of the time gone by, you cant erase the many memories we all share, with not only Mark, but all the Fulton clan. The American River, countless volleyball games, and skiing just to name a few. When you put Mark and Damian together on the volleyball court it was a pretty unbeatable combo. Toss into the mix “The Great Uncle Albert” and well enough said.
Once again to Cathy and all the Fulton Family our deepest condolences on the loss of Mark. Our heartfelt prayers are with all of you.
    Love,
    Terry, Toni, Kristin and Shadow
    Fulton

Mark was one of my 2nd generation supervisors in the Snow Summit Ski School. I also worked with him in his early real estate endeavors. He was always trying to move up the ladder, always ready to take a chance, always filled with entusiasm and hope. I have lost one of my “sons” and it hurts.
We will be skiing a run at Summit for Mark on Friday morning at 10:00am…all his skiing friends are welcome.
