Obituary
O’Brien, John F. (Jack)
Jan 4 1936 – Feb 4 2021
It is with great sadness we share that on Feb 4, 2021, Jack , 85, passed away peacefully.
He was surrounded by his devoted wife, Helene; his adoring children, Lori & Susan; his beloved grandchildren, Kelsey & Ryan; and his wonderful sons-in-law, Richard & Robert.
Jack flew the KC-135 Air Refueling tanker as a Captain in the Air Force, and followed that with a 30 year career as a Pilot for American Airlines, mostly as a Captain on the DC-10. After a brief retirement, he spent almost 7 years instructing in the flight simulator for the Boeing Aircraft Company.
His was a life well lived, and full of love. Jack will be greatly missed by all, and will live forever in our hearts.
Rest In Peace My Love.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated … thank you.

When we talk about Jack we kept coming up with the fact that he was Mr congeniality!
Always smiling. Always eager to find out how you were doing and not just talk about himself. And he wasn’t just interested in you he was interested in your kids and how they were doing. He was one of those people you were always happy to be around. We will miss him very much.

Jack was my Aunt Susan’s father. He was always one of my favorite people to see on Christmas night. When I was young, I always loved hearing his New York accent and hearing his stories. He was a very warm person and I will miss him a lot.

One of my fondest memories of Jack was our Lake Tahoe trip when Susan and I were teens and I thought I had “fat arms” growing up. Jack always had a quick wit and said back to me, “I can’t have anyone with fat arms in this car”. He didn’t let me live it down and that comment captures Jack’s personality that we all knew and loved.
Another huge thank you Jack, Alex and I will forever be grateful to you for speaking to Father Martin, which without you, our wedding at Mission San Juan Capistrano would not have been possible.
Jack had an amazing sense of humor, we loved hearing his stories and his contagious laugh. Alex always enjoyed telling his jokes to you and many lively conversations over memorable meals. Rest in Peace, God Bless you and your family. You will be missed.
Love,
Alex, Stacey, Brandon and Lauren
