Obituary
Antonette Adelina Quinonez aka: Mom, Grandma, Gigi, Sis, Annie & Lena was born in Los Angeles on November 10th, 1925 and died in Coto de Caza, California on October 3rd, 2010. She was extremely proud to be a California Native and felt very blessed to be an American. Her heritage was Mexican & Sicilian and she was the oldest girl in a family of 4 boys & 4 girls. As a child, she learned to look after her younger siblings which continued throughout her life. She was very close to her mother & with all of her family. She loved cooking, baking, music, singing, dancing to Glenn Miller’s Big Band sound, softball, bowling, bingo & card games. Some of her all time favorites were: The color blue, the red rose, Lobster and Benihana’s. She worked throughout the years to help raise her children. But most of all she loved being a homemaker, taking care of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all who came into her circle. She was completely devoted to those she loved and she was generous beyond belief. We all enjoyed her great biscuits, awesome pies, terrific spaghetti with meatballs, super enchiladas & bean burritos made with homemade tortillas that her great-grandson Jon called ‘the bomb’, to name only a few of what she spoiled us with.
She taught us that you can never do enough for friends and family by the way she rolled out the hospitality on any occasion we had to get together. A family friend used to say that you should treat your friends better than they deserve to be treated and she epitomized that thought. She taught us how to share and to show emotion, occasionally with a little fire, but most of all with love. She loved watching old movies from the 40’s & 50’s and her favorite author was Danielle Steele. She enjoyed gatherings with family & friends and was always ready to go to Las Vegas. Her smile and demonstrative personality is a part of every person with whom she came into contact. Her presence on earth was a gift to us all.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne, & sons Gene, Nick, Mark, and Michael; sisters, Tillie & Connie; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great-grandchild. Her legacy is in the love of all her family left behind who will always remember her wonderful spirit.
She was a devout Catholic with an unfailing faith, believing she would be reunited with her parents, siblings & others she loved who went on before her. She left this earth completely unafraid leaving behind love and forgiveness to all she cared about. There are many words and terms to describe her and numerous are appropriate; however, there are two that say it best of all: Unconditional Love.
