Obituary

Olivia Steffensen Wolf
September 10, 1929 December 23, 2011

Olivia was born in Lake Norden, South Dakota to Niels Steffensen and Karen Steffensen. She was the third eldest of eight children. The Steffensen’s came to California when Olivia was 12 years old, riding in a brand new Model T Ford and pulling a trailer with the new electric washing machine and the treadle sewing machine. They arrived on Christmas Eve. The family lived in Ballard, Buellton and finally in Solvang.

While attending Santa Ynez High School she met the love of her life, Newman Kellis Wolf (Kelly). They married in 1940 and were together for 71 years. During Kelly’s naval service (33 ½ years) they traveled the world. They lived in Hawaii, India and Japan and visited many countries while stationed in India and Japan. They both enjoyed these travels and had many wonderful stories to tell. Their only child, daughter Cheryl (Cherri) Tompkins was born in 1944 while Kelly was serving overseas during World War II.

She is survived by one sister, Eldora Laubly of Solvang; her beloved husband Kelly; her cherished daughter Cherri (Mission Viejo); her two loving grandsons, Mark (Suzanne) Tompkins of San Diego and Bryan Tompkins of Nevada City, CA; and her former son-in-law Ron Tompkins of Laguna Niguel, CA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was much loved by all and she loved us all very much. She was a beautiful, classy, stubborn woman who lived life her way, which was always trying to do for others. She will be missed and forever be in our hearts.

Services on Friday, December 30, 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard, CA. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer fund. She was a long time survivor. We love you, Mor Mor.
