YVONNE OLDFIELD MITCHELL
June 30, 1932 – December 23, 2020

Yvonne was a native Californian born in Southern California from parents Claude and Larina Davis. She lived most of her life in Southern California, where she loved the warm weather. She was a proud graduate of Pepperdine University.

She served as an Orange County Probation Officer and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. During her career, she worked with many colleagues, most of whom became lifelong friends.

She married Dick Mitchell, a fellow Probation Officer, who passed away in 2003.

Yvonne was very independent and strong-willed. She lived life exactly as she wanted, which kept her busy and happy. After retirement she enjoyed traveling around the world, particularly to any island in the South Pacific, which she considered paradise. She also loved dancing, gardening, reading mystery books and was quite proficient at interior decorating. She volunteered at a Riverside Senior Center and was a certified Ombudsman for many years. She planned numerous travel excursions to assist seniors make the most of their retirement years. By any measure, she lived a long, productive and full life.

Yvonne was proud of her children Doug and Denise, their spouses Fana and Bob, and her grandchildren Ally (John), Shannon, Michael and Michelle, and her good friend Elery, who all adored and miss her.

The family wants to thank Aloha Gardens including its House Administrator Ryan Fisk and caregivers Chat, Gem, Steve, Nico, Aldrin and others, who provided extraordinary care and compassion for Yvonne.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled by the family post-Covid. If you would like to attend, please contact the family directly or call O’Connor Mortuary and request that they forward your contact information to the family. The family asks that donations be provided to Covid relief efforts in lieu of flowers.

  1. So sorry to see that Yvonne passed away. We had such a nice visit a few years ago. She was so gracious and told me many stories about my Dad and family that I didn’t know as that was before I was born. I really enjoyed my time with her. She was my only first cousin on my Dad’s side. Rest In Peace Yvonne.

  3. Yvonne, it has been a long time since we spoke or saw each other. I will never forget you..we were so different yet I grew to love you…your strength, your elegance, your path of learning. Remember when we were part of that great Unit 99 Team. I tried to call you at the Assisted Living place about a year ago. Should have tried harder. My memories of you are filled with a smile and with respect. You had a good and full life…Be at Peace my friend.

  4. Grandma, I love and miss you very much. It’s especially hard because we are nearing Christmas and we are missing you even more than usual. You always made Christmas so much more wonderful when you were with us. I will always love and miss you. May you Rest In Peace.
