Winona Lee (Penfold) Rednour
Winona Lee (Penfold) Rednour passed away on August 28, 2023, at her home in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA surrounded by family following a long illness.
Winona was born on March 29, 1935, in Lawrence, KS. She attended Woodlawn Elementary in North Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence Memorial High School in 1953. She married Harold Rednour, also of Lawrence, in 1954 and traveled throughout the U.S. during his enlistment in the U.S. Navy where he served for 22 years.
As a military wife, Winona played a pivotal role within the Navy Wives Clubs of America, Inc., a non-profit national organization dedicated to Navy, Marine Corps., and Coast Guard spouses. Winona held various key positions in the organization over the years, including multiple terms as Regional President, National Vice President, and National President. Her commitment took her to the Pentagon on multiple occasions, where she represented the organization with distinction. She also had the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on behalf of the organization.
Winona is survived by her daughters, Linda Landers and Terri Jones, sons-in-law Terry Landers and Gary Jones, granddaughters Stacy Jones Hill (Ben Hill) and Mallory Jones Sullivan (Will Sullivan), grandson Harrison Landers, and great-granddaughter Ada Madeleine Hill. Winona is also survived by one brother, Landis Penfold, Jr of Milton, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Landis Penfold of Lawrence, KS, and her sister, Edith Louise Tennis of Mountain Home, AK.
A private family viewing at O'Connor Mortuary and Funeral Home in Laguna Hills, CA will precede a burial service at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California at 1:15 p.m. on September 12.
