Obituary

William Henry Ascasio, born April 26, 1944, left to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 31, 2014.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Judy; his stepchildren, Joseph St. Jean, Jennifer Baker (Matt), Juliette Blanton (Preston); and his grandchildren, Callie Reisling (Tyler), Josh Baker, Camille Blanton and Abigail Blanton. He is also survived by his siblings, Henry Ascasio, Steve Ascasio, Cindi Briese and Robert Buck, and numerous nieces and nephews including Sherry & Kathy Ascasio and Heather & Steven Ascasio.

William was born in Los Angeles, CA to Florintino & Virginia Ascasio. He grew up in San Diego except for a 2-year stint in Alaska while his stepdad, Al Buck, worked on the Alaska Pipeline. At 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He served in the Vietnam War and was deeply saddened by the horrendous treatment of Vietnam vets and suffered from PTSD for many years.

He was previously married to wife Sandra and helped raise her children, Scott & Jeanine. He was deeply loved by Scott’s son, Brandon McGinnis.

He became a cement finisher, working with his brother Steve until he took a medical retirement at age 55.

He loved his home in Laguna Hills and told his wife Judy, ‘I may not be able to take you to Italy, but I will make you an Italian villa.’ He enjoyed gardening, rock & roll and opera, and his dogs, Baby and Jackson.

Although his health issues limited his activities, he was always joking with everyone. All the kids in the neighborhood would come to visit him on his front patio to hear his stories and get a big hooah.

  1. I knew Bill when I was 28 and 29 years old when I was dating his brother Henry. We use to go to his home and have fun times with Bill drinking and listening to oldies but goodies and having the time of my life. I’m sorry I didn’t get to see you again before you went to heaven Bill:sparkling_heart:
