Obituary

~ billyonthebass ~

A fine musician, talented artist, wonderful son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, friend, cat-dad, Best Husband.  Billy poured his entire heart & soul into every relationship, every gig, every chore.

He was an extraordinarily talented, gracious, kind and generous man.  His humor wicked, very silly, crude and came off sweet doin’ it.  Just hilarious.  Beautiful laugh, and a very handsome dude.

He was a God-Loving man…unpretentious, honest, gentle and strong.

Billy was the groove-master.  He could groove, man, and he never forgot that it was all about ‘one’.

‘Groove in Peace, Billy…ain’t no rest for the Funky’

We hope you can make it to Billy’s memorial service and / or the reception immediately following.

    Gwen,
Please know that the Martin Family’s thoughts and prayers are with you for comfort and peace as you grieve. Bill’s wonderful spirit was certainly a blessing to the music ministry at Saddleback, and to the whole congregation. He reflected the love of God whenever he played. His ministry to all of us will be in our hearts; Bill’s joy in music and the Lord was an amazing witness. May you feel our Lord’s arms wrapped around you, and know that you are deeply loved, now and awlays.

  2. Gwen,

My condolences on your loss. I knew Bill only because I volunteer at the church office on the Creative Arts Team. What I remember most is Bill’s great attitude and his smiling face. He will be deeply missed.

May God comfort you at this sad time. Your church family is here for you.

  3. My prayers are for Bill’s family. He was a fun gentle soul who now stands before the God he served. His kindness and talent will be missed, his smile and vitality one we will see again because we have a hope in Jesus. Bill is experiencing the joy of that hope at this very moment. Meanwhile, my heart goes out to his loved ones.

  4. Gwen, I am very sorry for your loss. Bill will be sorely missed. You are in my prayers.

  5. Gwen, I can not convey how much I will miss your loving and so kind hearted Bill! Every time I saw him on stage playing his bass and praising the Lord with his unique moves it always moved me to smile and worship more. I took guitar lessons from him a couple of years ago and wow, what a teacher! My wife and I are the ones who helped with Bill’s new strings and setup on his Fender bass last year. A small “thank you” in return for his heart felt music ministry. We are now less due to Bill’s transition, but heaven is rejoyceing for sure! We were so blessed by knowing him! If we can help in any way please, please let us know. Loving thought’s and prayers! Rick & Esther
