Cave
January 17, 1927 – June 12, 2013
William Cave, passed away peacefully at his home on June 12, 2013 at the age of 86.
He was born in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the eldest of 4 children to William H. and Myrtle (Lawless) Cave. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy to serve as a sonar specialist during World War II. After the war he went to college and graduated from Bradley University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He then set off for California and found work with Douglas Aircraft (later McDonnell Douglas).
He eventually met his beautiful wife, Julie Sicari at a Newman Club dinner. They were married in February of 1958 and did not part until her passing 9 years ago.
Bill enjoyed playing basketball, tennis and golf but also followed all professional sports, especially the Lakers and the Yankees. His passion for wine was well known and he traveled to Napa Valley beginning in the early ’70s as well as to France.
He is survived by his three daughters: Caryn, Jan and Michelle, his brother John, his 7 grandchildren, his niece and nephews.
