IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter John
"Walt" Mieszerski
February 23, 1929 – February 27, 2024
Walter Mieszerski, 95, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at a board and care facility in Mission Viejo, CA.
Walter was born February 23, 1929 to the late John and Julia Mieszerski. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving for four years during the Korean War.
Prior to his work for 29 years as a computer analyst for Getty Oil, he had many odd jobs as a youngster, including a pie factory, a grocery store as well as selling ties, newspapers and soft drinks.
He was a fan of crossword puzzles and numerous sports with his favorite teams being the New York Giants, the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Kings, even though he never enjoyed their successes as much as he should have.
Never short of opinions and willing to argue with anyone who dared disagree, Walter was married to Teresa (Nokelty) Mieszerski for nearly 69 years and was the father of Robert Mieszerski and his wife Amy of Covina, CA, and Phyllis (Mieszerski) Chamberlain and her husband Charles Chamberlain of Pine Mountain Club, CA.
He was a proud grandfather to Stephanie Hower and her husband Chet Hower of Redlands, CA, and Matthew Mieszerski of Newport Beach, CA, and great grandfather to Bennett and Ariabella Hower.
An avid runner in his younger years, Walter once competed in the Los Angeles Marathon and remained an avid walker as a senior citizen.
He also enjoyed trips with Teresa after his retirement to places such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Hawaii and the New England states.
Walter was predeceased by his sister Julia and brothers Edward and Eugene and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
