Obituary

Virginia Sheetz passed away on November 10, 2010 at 1:45 PM in Laguna Hills, California, at age 91. She was born on February 10, 1919 in Corydon, Indiana to John Ora Tindall and Ida Gunterman Tindall.

Virginia, or ?Ginny? as many friends and family called her, was known to be the life of the party, which may explain her fondness for the color red, particularly in her clothing. She married her High School sweetheart, and they eventually settled in Woodland Hills California, after brief stops in New York City, Cincinnati, Ohio and Santa Barbara, California. Virginia and Jack had four children, two girls and two boys. With the untimely death of Jack in 1962, Virginia raised her four children by herself, never flinching from the tremendous responsibility laid upon her. She was very proud of her family, as her family was of her. Upon retirement from Rockwell International in Canoga Park, California, Virginia moved to Ahwatukee, Arizona. She wasn?t content to stay in one place all the time and often ducked out of the Arizona summer heat on road trips to visit with her children and her many friends. The road trips seemed to be almost an obsession for her: the planning, the packing and the drive itself. She loved the freedom of the open road. Virginia eventually made it back to California, to be closer to her daughter, Susan and son, Doug, their families and her grandchildren. Her penetrating dark brown eyes and her ready smile will be missed. Her memory will be cherished. Virginia's ninety- one years were lived with much gusto.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 20th, at O?Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, California, from 4 to 6 p.m.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 21st, at 1:00 p.m. at Aliso Creek Presbyterian Church, located at 29702 Kensington Drive, Laguna Niguel, California.

Virginia Sheetz will be laid to final rest next to her husband Jack on November 22nd, at Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen Street, Chatsworth, CA. Burial Service will commence at 11:30 AM.

She is survived by her daughters Jackie Power of Avon, Colorado, Susan McClellan of Irvine, California and sons Doug Sheetz of Mission Viejo, California, and David Sheetz of Truckee, California, and her grandchildren Carrie Northrop, Tyler Northrop, Gretchen Sheetz, Michael Sheetz and Emily Sheetz. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack Morrison Sheetz, and her sisters Irma Little of Wadsworth, Ohio and Betty Cox of Tempe, Arizona.
