Obituary
Naffziger, Velma V., 88, passed away peacefully from complications of Vascular Dementia on Nov. 5, 2009 at her home in Laguna Hills with all her family at her bedside.
Devoted wife to Edward for 63 years, beloved mother to son, Ronald; daughter, Nancy; 6 grandchildren, Amy, Daniel and Derek, Hal, Bo and Mitch; 3 great grandchildren, Gabriel, Shane and Mary Quinn; and brother, Kenneth Thompson.
Velma was born in Los Angeles, CA, on May 21, 1921 to Ernest and Anna Thompson, immigrants from Europe. Velma worked as a nurse before WWII, and then met Edward while working in the Vultee Aircraft Plant, during the war. Velma prized herself as mother, wife and homemaker. Her love for gardening, and zest for life were visible in her beautiful flower gardens over the many years. Velma was a long time member of the Family Service Auxiliary in Tustin, and the Sweet Adeline’s choral group in Mission Viejo. Her family always came first, and her devotion to her children and grandchildren never wavered. We will miss her greatly, but are comforted knowing she has entered the gates of heaven and is looking down on us with a big smile, and the usual twinkle in her green Irish eyes.
Memorial Service to be held on Nov, 11th at 1 pm at the O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills.
