Obituary

Mission Viejo, CA –

Timothy Jon Stetson, 65, former Ishpeming resident and longtime resident of Mission Viejo, CA passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 with his loving family by his side.

Tim was born in Ishpeming, MI on February 18, 1953, the son of the late Richard A. and Laura (Pesola) Stetson. Tim was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, class of 1971.  He worked at the first Ziebart Co. store in Negaunee, then for Cleveland Cliffs Mining Co. until a lay off when he moved to California where he worked as an engineer for the Orange County Testing Labs for 36 years.

Tim loved competition and wrestled in high school, was a great softball player with the Double V Bar and Hickey’s Bar teams.  He threw horse shoes, golfed & loved the Green Bay Packers.  His greatest love was singing and playing his guitar with his rock & roll band “The New Breed”.  He will always be remembered for the many sing-a-longs around the campfire with his daughters, family and friends.  He continued performing in rock & roll bands in California until his death.

Tim is survived by his greatest treasures, his daughters Keri Jo ( Christopher ) Brown of Madison, WI and Ashley Stetson of Fredricksburg, VA, and grandchildren Cassen & Kensey Brown.

He is also survived by a brother Richard F. ( Bonnie ) Stetson recently of Grand Rapids, MI, sisters Bonnie ( Dave ) Miller of Hemet, CA, Nancy Jones of Ishpeming,MI and Terri ( Steve )  Stetson of Fenwick, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lori Lee Tanner and her husband Tony Tanner. He also leaves behind numerous nieces & nephews that loved “Uncle Tim” fun loving ways.

He will be sadly missed by the many friends and co-workers in both the U.P. and California.

A celebration of life will take place in Mission Viejo on February 16, 2019 at Patsy’s Irish Pub.

A later ceremony will be held in early summer in the Ishpeming area at which time his ashes will be buried with his parents in the Humboldt Cemetery.

  2. I was so shocked to hear about your passing. Glad I got to see you at the Paddy’s Pub reunion at Silky’s. You were always so kind & upbeat. You gave everyone a fair shake. RIP Timmy 
