Thomas E. McCauley
September 21, 1929 – May 21, 2022

Thomas E. McCauley, age 92, passed away May 21, 2022.  He resided in Laguna Woods, CA.

He is survived by his wife, Sumiko McCauley along with children Daniel (Cindy), Linda (Bob) LaFayette, Michael, Timothy, Kevin (Jackie), Mary Swisher, Patricia Leitzke, and former wife, Irma.   He enjoyed his 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  Keeping in touch with many nieces and nephews, family and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Margaret McCauley, brothers William and James, and sister Mary Lou Seery; grandson, Brandon, and son-in-law Darrell Swisher.

Tom was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine School and Lindbloom High School.   In high school he and his brothers were gymnasts (good ones). After high school, served in the U.S. Navy.  Following service, he received an Associate Degree in Chemistry going on to a career with Nalco Chemical Co. with over 32 years of service.  He was a water treatment specialist and salesman.  He worked primarily within the steel industry taking him from Chicago to Pittsburg, to Detroit area, to Gary area and finally as an International Division Affiliate Manager in Tokyo Japan.  Following retirement he relocated to Laguna Woods, CA where he could be away from the cold and snow of the northern Midwest.

He enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles on a daily basis and could complete most all of them (even Saturdays).  He loved to keep busy tinkering and constructing, many pleasures of golfing, dancing, gardening, and socializing with his friends.   He loved his family and enjoyed visiting.

Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL.
