  1. I have been fortunate to live across the street from Pete and Tess since they moved into Casta del Sol. I loved visiting with them and enjoyed Tess’ sweet, kind personality. I know she will be deeply missed by family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who loved her.

If I hadn’t been too nervous today I would have shared how welcomed each of the Christie family members have always made me feel. I knew them through their daughter Pat and I met Pete and Tess first time in their Garden Grove home when Pat and I were practicing “how to self arrest for rock climbing” in the front of their yard using their big, tall tree. Tess told us to be sure we get it right today so that our skills will save us out in our wild adventures later on. Pete was the Umpire and Tess was so often exercising on her bike when I would call to talk with Pat. I didn’t have close family and they often invited me to join them for their holiday celebrations. Whether it was Diane’s at Xmas, Terri’s at Easter / Halloween or Pat’s own home when she graduated from Nursing School – I always felt their tender care.

Years ago, I remember going to visit Tess at Saddleback Hospital and the receptionist could not find her name for me. I kept saying Tess not knowing that she was Theresa first. Silly me…. Even in the hospital, Tess always wanted to know where her comb, brush and lipstick were at all times. Tess was so proud of Pat about her career and while being a patient at Saddleback Hospital – she would brag about how the other nursing staff would stop by her room and share with her how competent and respected Pat was as a Nurse in this facility. I have no doubt how often Pat had to deal with other patients on-going death yet to be managing her own Moms whom she loved very much had to have such a difficult weight to carry. Pat established the basic needs at her parents home for Tess and wanted her Dad, Pete to work with Hospice and he so moved forward with all the care and tenderness he has always had for Tess. I could see that Pete absolutely adored Tess and she right back at him also. Along with the constant care of their caregiver (who’s name I can’t spell right) Tess receive exceptional care throughout her time remaining.

When driving up to Pats house there is a long, sloping hill and a Stop Sign mid-way up and Pat had said that Tess would always STOP there, even when no cars were coming. So I started honking my car horn a beep or two at this Stop Sign (even though now it has been removed) every time I would go to see Pat and that was my fun way to say Hello to Tess. And I will continue to have loving and dear thoughts of Tess as I see her as the gracious, elegant and tender person who welcomed me into her life. With all rainbows ahead – I will see and feel the Sparkle of Tess.. Amen… love, Denise Bell

Our deepest condolences to you and your family Pete. My fondest childhood memories are of you and Tess. I cherished the many hours I spent at your home as a child while Tess took care of me. Tess was always warm and loving and treated me as if I was part of her own family. Oh sure – she had to kick me in the butt once in a while but I felt truly loved. I will miss her. I miss you. As we all get older memories sometime fade but one memory will hold true in my heart for as long as I live – the friendship and love you and Tess offered to the Thompson family throughout the years will never be forgotten. God bless you and your family.
