Obituary
Tewen Frances Chan, 62, of Merced, California, passed away on May 4, 2013 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed in peace, surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years Kin, sons Wayne and Eric, daughter-in-law Celia, grandchildren Abigail and Noah, sister Margaret, brother David, and many other friends and family.
Frances was born on October 11, 1950 in Pingtung, Taiwan to Hung-Ling Fu and Kwon Fu Wang. She graduated from Tamkang University where she was an accomplished concert pianist and varsity basketball player. She immigrated to the United States in 1974 to get her Masters in Computer Science from Rutgers University and to be close to her college sweetheart who she would wed in 1976. In 1982, they moved to Merced to raise their family and, for 30 years, worked together to provide medical care to families in this small community.
Frances was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She appreciated the beauty in the everyday and her greatest joy was being around those she loved. She enjoyed gardening, cooking meals with her family, adventures to far-off lands and spoiling her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
