Dawn’s Prayer To Mom
Terry has always been kind, gentle and loving. She has always treated me like a daughter. She was strong yet accepting.
This Native American Prayer, which I would like to share with all of you, reflects what Terry is. What she has done and will continue to do for us.
I give you this one thought to keep
I am with you still- I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone,
I am with you still-in each new dawn.
I love you forever!!!!

For all of us to remember.
OUR MOTHER
If I had to choose one word to describe our mother, that word would be humble.
I speak of mom, and always will, as if she can hear me,and she does, because she is very much alive in our hearts.
Our mother is an honest and generous woman. She thinks of others before herself.
She is kind and gentle. She is modest. Passionate and considerate.
Our mother loves us and she will never stop loving us.
Last Thursday February 24, 2005 was a beautiful day. The rain yielded to blue skies and sunshine. Heaven opened up and God sent his angels to bring our mother home.
We have to wait awhile to see her again.
Her beautiful face.
Her sincere smile.
To hear her gentle voice, and to feel her loving touch.
But this wait will be joyful, for she gave us fond memories to occupy us.
Our mother is a servant of the Lord; and she just received a promotion.
She will serve God greatly in heaven. Let us celebrate her ultimate achievement.
Mother, this is not goodbye. It is Hello and Welcome. We love you.
On Saturday, March 5, 2005, we laid our dear mother to her final resting place. She is resting beside St. Anne. They are watching over all of us. Thank you mom.

Thank you family and friends for honoring my mom last week. Your presence at her vigil and memorial was comforting to us and it was so great seeing everyone and meeting all of my mom’s friends. I wanted to share with you the messages she sent to me on Friday, March 4th:
I placed a call to O’Connor to find out the status of my mom’s cremains. Ron, the director told me she was ready and I could come pick her up anytime. I then placed a call to Ascension Cemetary to inform them I would be coming by to drop my mom off for safekeeping and in preparation for her internment on Saturday. The man asked me if I could be there by 3:45 p.m. since he had a train to catch and he was the only one in the office. It was 3:00 p.m. I proceeded to make my way to O’Connor and caught every red light from my parents house to Alicia Pkwy. After signing the final documents at 3:25 p.m., Ron carried my mom to my car; it was now 3:30 p.m. I drove off feeling rushed and anxious to get to Ascension on Trabuco, but fortunately, I made most of the green lights. I caught a red light and was behind an SUV whose license plate read “2HVN1WY”. I laughed and looked over at my mom’s cremains and said “Hi mom!”
I then caught another red light on Trabuco and the car in front of me was a yellow VW bug, with the license plate “Daffodil.” I was amazed at this 2nd sign from God and mom. FYI, daffodil is the flower used by American Cancer Society for its fundraising — springtime is their “Daffodil Days” campaign.
I arrived at Ascension at 3:43 p.m. I placed mom on the counter and asked the man to take good care of my mom until the next day. He apologized for making me rush over and assured me mom will be well taken care of. I asked him what his name was and he said “Jesus.” My mouth dropped. Joy filled my heart and soul. As I was traveling down Los Alisos to my parents house, I looked up to the sky and saw a bright rainbow. I already knew my mom was pleased with us children for honoring her life that way she wanted, but this last sign was the icing on the cake. I felt in my heart she was in heaven looking down proudly on me at that moment. How I love her — I miss her so much already.

Tita Terry is my aunt. Reading the memorials, I knew Tita Terry was a person who was loved by all who knew her. I especially knew her as a deeply religious and devoted Catholic. Mimi and I will dearly miss talking to her after Sunday services at the Santiago de Compostello Catholic Church. Tita Terry will be forever be in our hearts!
