Tamera Lee Rice, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated nursing educator, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at the age of 72. Born Tamera Lee Dalbey on August 15, 1953 in Danville, Illinois, she lived a life defined by deep faith, compassionate service, and an unwavering love for her family.
Tamera dedicated her career to the advancement of nursing education, leaving a lasting legacy in the lives of countless students and future healthcare professionals. She served as a Nursing Instructor at Cypress College before going on to become Assistant Dean and Director of Nursing at Saddleback College, where her leadership and expertise shaped the next generation of nurses.
A woman of strong faith, Tamera was a cherished member of University United Methodist Church, Irvine, where she gave generously of her time and talents through the Health Ministry Team. Her commitment to caring for others extended far beyond the classroom and into her community.
In her personal life, Tamera found great joy in golfing and traveling with her husband, Stephen, cherishing the adventures and quiet moments they shared together. Tamera treasured her role as a mother and grandmother. She was a constant, loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren, delighting in every milestone and making each moment count. Her warmth, wisdom, and laughter will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by:
* Her husband, Stephen Rice
* Her daughter, Adrienne Bailey, her husband, Christopher Bailey, and their children, Ella and Landon
* Her son, Michael Rice, his wife, Courtney Rice, and their daughter, Payton
Services
A private service for family and close friends will be held at O'Connor Mortuary, followed by her Graveside Ceremony at El Toro Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life open to all will be held at a later date at University United Methodist Church in Irvine, California. Details will be announced in due course.
