Obituary
Sudhakar Reddy Manchireddy
February 02, 1952 – July 01, 2024
Sudhakar Manchireddy, age 70, of Whittier CA, passed away on July 1, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Kavitha, and his two children, Brinda and Sohan. He was able to rest peacefully with the presence of close family and friends for his final moments.
Sudhakar was born in an Indian village called Eliminedu on January 22, 1954 to Venugopal Reddy and Ananthamma. His siblings include Suguna, Venkat Narayana, Janardhan, Ravinder, Ramnath, and Karnakar. He was known to be quite adventurous and often found himself involved in mischief. He often shared these fond memories with his children. Sudhakar was a passionate food-lover since childhood with his favorite food being lamb curry. He would recount stories of going hunting animals for his mother to cook. He was always content with a good, hearty meal.
Sudhakar graduated in 1976 from the College of Agriculture – Rajendranagar, Hyderabad with a BSE. He was very involved with extracurricular activities in college. He would often reminisce about winning dance competitions and later letting loose at clubs in New York. He also participated in many sports including volleyball and boxing; going on to fight at the championship level. Aside from this, his college passions included political activism. Participating in fasting strikes, he showcased his commitment to the Pratyeka Telangana Movement.
After arriving in the States in 1979, he completed an MBA in Accounting from a prestigious university in New York. He not only graduated, but was consistently at the top of his class. A few years later, he traveled back to India to marry Kavitha before returning to settle down in America. Sudhakar was the first of his family to travel across the Atlantic and later helped bring more family members over. He truly did everything in his power to help his family back in India while also finding his footing in a foreign land. He cared deeply about his friends and family back in India and actively kept in touch.
Sudhakar was an entrepreneur; he decided early on he wanted to be his own boss and started a small business. He ran his business, “Hollywood Pistachios” later becoming “Manchi’s Munchies” for over 30 years. Known as Manchi at his place of work, he truly was a kind soul to friends and customers alike. Friends always emphasize how he loved teasing and cracking jokes. Both those who have worked alongside him as well as long-term customers talk about his friendly gestures, contagious smile, and dedication to his craft each and every day.
In Sudhakar’s later years, he spent his time doing the things he enjoyed while still supporting his family. Even while working, he made time to share meals with his family and engage in his favorite hobbies. Sudhakar truly enjoyed day trading and was happy learning the craft and meeting like-minded individuals. Even with creaky bones, he still loved to dance and recently participated in a few weddings and aquatic dance workouts on a family trip to Cancun. He would always encourage those around him to join in the fun. Each time, he danced with passion and spurred the group with his contagious moves.
Sudhakar, Manchi, Dad; he lives on in the memories of those he has interacted with.
