Obituary
Stevia June Yardum
Stevia June Yardum passed away peacefully in her home on November 15, 2023. She was 90 years old.
VIBRANT, caring, kind hearted, exuberant, beautiful inside and out, fun, generous, loving, brave, gracious, artistic, creative, full of life, positive, always thought the best of others, loved to pray. This was our mother, June.
She was born on January 3, 1933, exactly 3 years to the day after her sister, Elma. As a young child she loved to be with her friends outdoors, playing games and climbing trees.
She married Vincent Yardum Jr. on April 24, 1954 when she was 21 years old. They raised their three children Kim (1957), Karee (1958), and Vince (1967), in Van Nuys, California.
June was very creative and artistic and loved to decorate homes. She also enjoyed painting, fashion, jewelry, shopping, gardening, and was always up for an adventure. Although she didn’t watch TV often, when it was on, you could find her watching either HGTV or HSN. And she enjoyed a good suspense movie! She was a fantastic cook and loved to collect recipes. She always loved making her famous poppy seed cake for guests! Because she was so warm and friendly, she made friends easily and enjoyed gathering together with family and friends.
Throughout the years, June enjoyed her work in the home design business, decorating homes and working in design showrooms.
She was involved with Hai Benefit, an Armenian charitable organization, and she and Vincent were the founding members of two Tavloo (backgammon) clubs where she enjoyed visiting with the wives as their husbands played tavloo every month.
In 1992 Vincent and June moved to Laguna Niguel where they had new adventures and made new friends.
A distinguishing quality June had was her interest in whoever she might be talking to. She asked them questions about themselves and their family, showing a caring heart. She thought of others’ needs ahead of her own.
She always noticed God’s beauty in nature, often commenting on how beautiful the streets were in her neighborhood. And she loved the ocean!
June had a loving, generous, and gracious spirit, making her a joy to be around. She will be dearly missed and always remembered for her kindness and grace.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain, all these things will be gone forever.” Revelation 21:4
