Steve was a larger than life role model to me growing up on Eastate Drive in Quincy, IL. He was the cool older brother I never had and I truly idolized him. I spent hours listening to rock music in his room. He patiently let me listen to his albums and introduced me to all the greats, opening my young eyes to a whole new world. As everyone on Eastate Drive remembers, he also drove the most amazing go-kart! I will always remember Steve and what he meant to me. Unfortunately, I don’t think he ever knew what an influence he was on me. He most certainly had the same effect on countless other people. Steve will be missed by all fortunate enough to know him. Prayers to the Werner family.

`Dear Werner family
We grieve with you for the loss wonderful Steve. He was movie star handsome which never faded even during his illness. But more impressive, he was good through and through. Steve was tested more than any person we have ever known but his courage, strength and faith endured through it all. We are in awe of the young boy that became such a special adult, an example for the rest of us to follow. May he Rest In Peace because he has surely earned it. We shall forever treasure the time we spent with him in San Diego. With our sincere condolences to all of you from the Tayyabs

I feel the same way Frank (above) does. Steve always radiated confidence. He could skipper a boat, drive a race car and talk most people into about anything. Always kind as well, don’t remember him saying a bad word about anyone. He was a hell of a goalie too! That confidence and faith has been put to the test these last several years and he never faltered. We will miss you Steve! We love you Gina, Sloan, and Henry!

Gina, my sincere condolences to you and your family. I’m so glad for the times I was able to spend with you and Steve while visiting Stacy and Mark. I always admired how hard Steve fought. He will be missed. May God give you and your family peace and strength. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
