Steven “Steve” P. Werner, 49 of Mission Viejo, California, passed away at home with family by his side on Saturday, March 17, 2018. He was born November 26, 1968 in Connersville, Indiana to Jerry and Donna (Borchelt) Werner. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gina, and children Sloane and Henry. He is predeceased by his son, baby Paul Thomas.
Steve was a graduate of University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Economics. He was an active member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He loved road cycling, golf, sailing and car-racing. Steve had a successful career in sales for several investment firms. In 2004 he was diagnosed with brain cancer and underwent many surgeries, chemotherapies and radiation treatments. He never complained. He never lost hope. He never gave up.

Donna and Jerry, we are saddened to hear that your son has passed. You will be remembered in our prayers. Steve gets to celebrate Easter early and eternally. With sympathy, Jim and Marie Thomas

I sent an email to Mr. Werner’s address, and it bounced back. I just wanted to send my condolences to the Werner family. My name is Nia and I was a Scholarship winner through the Mind the Gap Foundation. It is due to awards like the Mind the Gap Scholarship that will allow me to graduate next month with honors. God rest Mr. Werner’s soul. And once again thank you!
