A LIFE REMEMBERED
Stephen G. Johnson Jr. passed away on October, 18 2026 at the age of 75. Born in Medford, Massachusetts, he lived a life filled with family, friends, laughter, adventures and always music.
HIS STORY
Growing up, he started working early with a paper route riding his bike, found his love for music and spent his summers as a life guard.
He worked in Sales & Technology for 40+ years, with memorable companies such as Acoustic Research, Memorex & Sony.
He met Jan in 1976 at AR and became fast friends which led to their marriage in Laguna Beach in 1982 and stayed strong for 44 years. They moved back and forth between New Jersey and California for four years before they expanded their family. They welcomed their beautiful daughter, Kimberly, in June of 1988 in New Jersey. In 1997, Steve’s job brought them back to California where they’ve resided in Mission Viejo for the last 30 years.
Music was a huge part of his life and one of his favorite pastimes. Steve was a guitarist and played in bands since he was 12 years old. Dr. Bad’s House Call, Delta 88’s and Willy Nilly to name a few. He loved opening up for major acts at The Coach House for 20 yrs with The Delta 88’s. He spent his life attending amazing concerts and festivals around the country.
In his retirement, he spent many days at Blasmo Music studio. He also enjoyed shared experiences with his family, a cold beer by the water or on his patio, a good book and watching sports or comedies on tv.
He became known as Papa, to his grandkids; Kyler(2019) and Lyla(2022) and it was his greatest joy spending his time with them.
Whether it was playing guitar on stage, making everyone laugh with his dry sense of humor, or being the “Grill Master” for the people he loved, he leaves behind countless memories that will be cherished for years to come.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Johnson; his daughter, Kimberly; his son-in-law, Justin; his grandchildren; Kyler and Lyla; his sister, Rita Burke.
