Obituary

Stanley “Stan” Michael Okon, CDT, of Laguna Beach, California entered God’s loving arms of eternal peace and happiness on April 6, 2018, surrounded by beloved family.

He is survived by wife, Shellie, children Ryan and Lauren and grandson Ray Okon;  mother, Helen, siblings Carol, John, Cindy De Son (JD) and Janet Straggas (George); step daughter Kelly Siegfried (Brett) and children Samantha and Sawyer; and daughter of his heart  Natalie Barnard.

Stan enjoyed life to the fullest.  He was passionately devoted to his family and friends.  He enjoyed scuba diving, photography, cooking, reading, traveling, mountain climbing, dinners and spending time at the beach with friends and family.  He especially enjoyed building toys and sharing movie nights and popcorn with his grandson, Ray, who knew him affectionately as “Papa”.

He was born on August 25, 1949, in Kenosha Wisconsin to Stanley John and Helen Barbara Okon.  They relocated the family to California in 1963.  Stan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from UCLA and a degree in Dental Technology from Pasadena City College.

He started Stanley Okon Dental Laboratory, Inc., a state of the art dental laboratory in Orange County, California, in 1973.  This became Stan’s second passion.  He focused on using the finest materials and latest technologies and practices to ensure that restorations fabricated for patients were of the highest possible quality.  He loved improving smiles.  He also loved learning more about dentistry through memberships such as the Dental Lab Owners Association of California, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and dental study clubs throughout Southern California.  Stan served twice as President of the DLOAC organization.
