Obituary

Stanley Raymond Green died on August 11, 2021 at home in Mission Viejo, CA at the age of 92. Stan was born in Los Angeles, CA to Raymond and Helen Green during the beginning of the Great Depression. He graduated from Loyola High School and Washington State University. Stan enlisted in the Air Force, serving from 1954 to 1957 as a fighter pilot, flying the F-86 Sabre. He was stationed in Nagoya, Japan where he married Dixie Oder in 1955. Dixie and Stan built a home in Portuguese Bend, now Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, in 1960. During their 20 years of marriage they raised their five children – Laura Hanley (Dean), Erin LaMonte (Gary), Raymond Green (Judy), Joe Green (Stacey), and Ellen Crnkovich (Martin).

Stan worked in the glass business all his life, as the owner of Coast Glass Company in Hermosa Beach in the 1960’s and 70’s and then later in the speciality glass fabrication business. He excelled using his engineering and mechanical mind (never having taken an engineering course in college) to develop solutions to challenging production problems.

Stan married Sandra Suemnicht Hauersley in 1996 and settled in Mission Viejo, CA. He included Sandi’s daughters, Lori Hauersley and Erica Beichner (Chris) as part of his beloved large family. He enjoyed golf, tennis, the neighborhood “Friday night gatherings”, and especially time at the family ranch in Ventura County as a 4th generation Californian.

Stan cherished his 13 grandchildren – Anna (Stephen), Mary (Sonny), Helen, Regina, Graham, Rachel (Travis), Max, Joe (Sydney), Peter, Sam (Abby), Maria (Riley), Katie, and Tim and his 3 bonus grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin, and Trey. Great-grandchildren Caleb, Hannah, Paisley, Brody, Chiara and Ivan added to his joy in the last years of his life.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church in Mission Viejo on Friday, August 27th at 10:00 am. Remembering Stan’s love of dogs and the military, contributions in his honor may be made to Canine Companions – at canine.org (Note Stan Green-Veterans Initiative) or mail check to 7710 Las Colinas Ridge, Irving, TX 75063.

  2. Always loved Stan and admired him. He was a wonderful man, he loved his wife Sandi and family. He always came to our house and celebrated the Fourth with us and friends. We were honored to celebrate his 90th birthday with him. We will
miss him a lot, his impish smile and wit and he never looked his age. God bless you Stan.

He was a mentor and a strong willed boss, who taught me so much. I will never forget him as he taught me to be strong in the 90s as a 20 something yr. woman in the glass manufacturing business. He never stopped learning and we became excellent colleagues even though ages apart and he was my boss, as we loved computers and software and engineering. When I parted the company he asked me was it anything he had done, I hugged him and said you are the reason I stayed this long. When you get a teacher in your life, try to learn from them. He was crusty on the outside but soft and great on the inside. God speed, my friend and favorite boss.
