   When I first met him, he was a competitor, and I was so green that it’s embarrassing to me now how I acted. This was so long ago that back then there was still a USSR and a wall dividing Berlin. Years later we would work closely together. Though still in competition, he was among the few who taught me that it could be–and was–fun. Later, when the nature of job turned lousy for all of us involved, he was one of the very few who made it bearable.

   Today I learned that my friend Stacy passed away. This is a hard one to take.

   He loved good food and good times, and he always made sure that the latter was the most important–even if the food turned out to be less than expected (oftentimes that was at The Magic Castle).
   He knew how lucky he was to have Dixie in his life. Most of us also wondered how he got so lucky. My thoughts are with her and the rest of his family today. I’m going to miss you, Stacy. You were a true friend. I couldn’t have made it without you.

   So saddened to hear of Stacy passing. We worked side by side for several years in the 90’s. Stayed in touch afterwards and with our wives were able to meet for dinner several times over the years. Everyone, and I do mean everyone loved Stacy. No matter how tough the job, how long the hours, or how tired we were, he always had a smile. So many good memories. You will be missed my friend.
