Obituary

Spencer Sandridge

Spencer Sandridge, age 27, the beloved son of Kaye and Jim Sandridge, passed away instantaneously in a fatal car accident on April 30th. He was born and raised in Flower Mound, Texas. He had lived in Orange County, CA the past four years, where he worked as a teller and later promoted to a personal banker at Wells Fargo. He was also finishing his college degree at Orange Coast College. He was committed to his rescue dog, Lazarus, and loved to spend time with him at the beach.

Spencer was an avid outdoorsman and excellent marksman who enjoyed hiking, camping and snow skiing. He achieved his first degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do at the young age of seven, and shortly thereafter earned his second degree black belt. He went on to become an Eagle Scout and was a member of the BSA Order of the Arrow. During high school he was active in the youth group at Triestch Memorial United Methodist Church. And enjoyed going on mission trips with them. While participating in the Marcus High School Band, they won multiple state championships, and was a member of the Drumline that won a national championship. His friends and coworkers remember him as a caring, generous, engaging, fun-loving, and intelligent young man.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Kaye Sandridge, his younger sister, Shannon Sandridge as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  In this time of social distancing and limited gathering, the family would appreciate your comments to celebrate and remember the accomplished, cherished life of Spencer.

    Dear Kay and Jim,

I am so saddened to hear the news of Spencer’s passing. Although we have not seen any of you in many, many years, I have such fond memories of Spencer in the playgroup we all enjoyed when our children were little. Julianna, Spencer, Miranda, Jacqueline, Christian, and Shannon all had so much fun together. As moms, Kirsten, you, and I shared lots of laughter, and friendship while navigating our roles as new moms. I am praying for all of you during this difficult time.

Spencer was one of the first people I remember meeting when I first joined the youth group at Trietsch. He helped me feel welcome right away and made me laugh often throughout my years attending Trietsch. He was really someone I looked up to because of the kindness he demonstrated towards others and the openness with which he shared about himself and his experiences. Honestly, with us both graduating and having not seen each other for nearly 8 years, I’d forgotten about how impactful Spencer had been during my high school years. I plan to take this time to reflect on how he helped shape me and others around us into the people we are now by challenging us and reminding us of the importance of constant laughter. I hope to never take knowing Spencer for granted.

Jim I can’t really imagine what you and your family is experiencing at this time. My heart is heavy. I remember you and Art as great examples. Though we didn’t run together I always had the utmost respect for you and Art. I wish there was something that I could do. God bless you Jim. I always considered you a friend.
