Obituary

Dr. Skipi L. Smoot

Dr. Skipi L. Smoot, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Laguna Niguel on August 19. She is survived by her devoted husband, Lee; her son Ted Lundquist and his wife Kathy; her granddaughter Amber Rose Anderson; and step-son, Matthew Emery Smoot.

Dr. Smoot was a successful owner-operator of two McDonald’s restaurants in San Pedro, CA and after moving to Virginia, ran another successful McDonald’s in Williamsburg, VA, where she was one of the first female operators on the East Coast.

After selling her McDonald’s, she pursued her love of psychology. After degrees from William & Mary, Pepperdine, and CSPP, she had earned her Ph.D., which for the next 30 years she used to become a successful marriage and family psychologist.

She loved music and was a very accomplished singer. She also wrote a psychology book, “Maturation, The Adult Paradigm”.

A Celebration of Life Memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, September 12 at 2:00 PM at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, 26772 Avery Parkway, Mission Viejo. We suggest casual dress.

I needed a year to process and comment. Skipi meant and will forever mean so much to mean. I met her as my psychologist at first, but then we became like family. Skipi said my life should be a book, she wanted to help numerous members of my family. We would say I love you and hug. She would tell m red about her granddaughter, the tragedy of Amber’s father, about her parents (her mother especially), McDonald’s, her husband’s heart surgery in 2016, and so on. We mailed each other cards. Last year, I looked to find her book for an friend, and came upon her obituary. I will be grateful for Skipi’s friendship for eternity. I will infinitely be grateful for her professional help prior. My condolences to the family. I am sorry for your loss. Your mother inspired me.
    Many Blessings💕🌵🌙✨
