Obituary

Shirley Mae Mundy Hodge, Mission Viejo, California, passed away at home with her family on Dec. 9, 2014. She was born to Maurice and Welma Mundy on May 19, 1936 in DeKalb IL.

She graduated from Sycamore High School in 1954. She and Don “Pete” Hodge married in 1958 at St John Lutheran Church in Sycamore and began 56 years of a lifetime partnership, which took them to El Paso, Texas with the US Army, then to Maryland, California, Australia, and back to California due to Pete’s career with Collins Radio and Rockwell International.

She is survived by son David (Amber) Hodge and their children Jordan, Bethany, Gesena, and Annalisa; daughter Gayla (Dan) Babineau and their children Haley and Danielle; daughter Carla (Greg) Thomas and their children Lindsey and Steffan; sister Barbara (Harold) Nordin; brother Ken (Juanita) Mundy; and nieces, nephews and inlaws from Pete’s family. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gregory Mundy.

Shirley was a classy lady who loved and mentored their Kids and Grandkids. She kept their family close in heart even when separated by many miles. She was a lady of strong faith even while enduring a long illness that ended when God called her Home to be with Him and all believers forever.

The family thanks Pastor Tom who ministered to Shirley and the family during her illness and also the dedicated nurses and doctors who provided medically for her.

Services are planned for January 10, 2015 at 11am at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 23262 El Toro Rd, Lake Forest, CA 92630.
