Shirley (Woltz) Dion passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, in Mission Viejo, California, at the age of 93½.

Shirley was born in Muskegon, Michigan, and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. A lifelong learner, she later earned her Real Estate Agent license and became a certified Trust Specialist. Throughout her career, Shirley worked in several fields and was admired for her dedication, intelligence, and strong work ethic.

In the late 1960s, she worked as a typist for McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Co. in Huntington Beach. She later worked in administration for the Ocean View School District in Huntington Beach. Shirley went on to build a successful career as a Trust Administrator with Bank of America and later with a local firm, serving in the profession for more than 30 years.

Shirley moved to California in 1964 and settled in Huntington Beach in 1965, where she and her beloved husband, Thomas “Tom” Dion, raised their family. In 1988, they moved to Casta del Sol in Mission Viejo, where Shirley lived until her passing.

She was a faithful attendee of San Francisco Solano Catholic Church in Rancho Santa Margarita, where she also enjoyed participating in Bible Study. Shirley was active in the 55 and Better Club at Casta del Sol and proudly served as treasurer of the Italian/American Club, a role she enjoyed with her characteristic sense of humor and warmth.

Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children: Rick Dion and wife Joanne Dion; Renee Rayfield and husband Jim Rayfield; and Jeff Dion and wife Joy Dion. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dion; her parents, Roy and Ila Woltz; and her sister, Bonnie Weise.

A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, at 7:00 PM at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, California. Shirley’s remains will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Shirley be honored through donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
