Obituary

Sheryl Linda McGillivary, 46, devoted friend, daughter, sister and aunt, died July 2, 2005, after a lengthy and brave battle against illness.

A long time resident of Laguna Hills, Sherri was born Dec. 24, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan. She attended school at Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Mich., and continued her education at Lansing Community College and the University of California.

A member of the International Society of Human Resource Management, Sherri moved to California in 1981 and in 1988 was appointed to head the human resource department for Professional Community Management of California, Inc.

Sherri developed and administered personnel, benefit, and safety programs for the company’s 1, 400 employees and oversaw the company’s risk management division. She was promoted to vice president in 1997 and senior vice president for human resources and risk management in 2004.

A long-time supporter of the Girl Scouts, Sherri was a scout leader both in California and Michigan.

In addition to spending time with her many nieces, nephews, and friends’ children along with her never ending attempts to spoil them, Sherri enjoyed golf, sailing, travel, games with her friends and celebrating her Irish heritage.

Sherri is survived by her parents, Joseph and Jeanne Marchildon McGillivary; her sister Dianne Charles Dagher of Madison Heights, Mich.; brothers Brian Rebecca McGillivary of Traverse City, Mich., and Michael Pamela McGillivary of Westlake Village; nieces Megan, Kaeli, Lainey, and Kacie; nephews Ryan, Scott, Keegan, Charles Joseph, Jake, and Luke, and aunts Joanne Dennis King, Linda Enis Burnett, Nancy McGillivary and many cousins and close friends.
