Obituary

Sherry Ann Bendall

Sherry Ann Bendall was pioneering in being the first of her family to obtain a university degree, going on to become a doctor at a time when just 15% of practicing physicians in the US were women. The odds against her were formidable, but more formidable still were her courage and strength of character. She was a fighter, with a deep sense of compassion, kindness, and social justice. She always tried to help others, and was especially caring for the young and for those in trouble or need. She loved her family deeply and was protective especially of her two children. She enjoyed crafts and hobbies and made many beautiful artworks, ranging over media from crochet to knitting, quilting, painting and lapidary work. She was loved and respected by all who knew her, family, friends, and neighbours, and her loss is keenly felt.

  1. Sherry, I feel sad you lost your fight against covid. We (your relatives here in AZ) were by your side even though we were miles away. We will remember and miss you.

    1. May you know peace & walk in harmony. Your memory will live on in the hearts of your family and friends.
      With loving fondness,
      Your sister, Bobi

Mary Hanner I am so sorry that my beautiful friend, Sherry, now only lives in our memories. She was always smiling, always full of information on almost any subject, and caring about her family and friends. I am sorry the world must go on without her. She shines in her two children, David and Lisa, her grandchildren and in those of us who loved her. My sympathy to all of her family.

    1. My husband Matthew and I have come to known Sherry since 2016 from the Saddleback Emeritus Tai Chi classes.

Sherry is the most courageous and resilient person we’ve ever met. Despite of her arthritis problems over the years, she kept coming back to the class and shared with us her experience, knowledge and courage in dealing with and fixing her knee, hip, spine, and most recently her neck problems with such a positive and exemplary attitude. Her passion of Tai Chi displays not only in her years of persistent practice, but also toward her lapidary work! She has told me several times that Tai Chi is her passion and it has helped keep her going forward time after time. Whenever she is doing her lapidary work which requires repletion and patience, she will think of the Tai Chi principles and spirit.

In Tai Chi, we are constantly searching for that internal peace and harmony. I truly believe that she has found her eternal harmony and onto a peaceful journey now! You are always in our hearts, Sherry!

      Love,
      Wendy and Matthew Ma
