Sheila Boswell, aged 56, resident of Mission Viejo California, passed away peacefully on Monday October 17th 2016 after a 4 1/2 year long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hereford UK on Feb 28th 1960 she is survived by her husband of 33 years Andrew and her two sons James and Alex.

Sheila loved life and was loved by all those who came to know her, she was a joy and light to so many people. Children and gardening were her main focus from the beginning of her many years of service to others, as a carer and a pre-school assistant teacher. When she received her cancer diagnosis in 2012 she became a member of the American Cancer Society and Co-Chair of the Relay for Life movement. She was a Hero for Hope speaker and devoted much of her time to helping others cope with a cancer diagnosis. Despite her own difficult condition she remained positive and filled with joy and love, as one dear friend stated she made pain look beautiful and found peace among the chaos.

A celebration of life will be held at InSpirit Center for Spiritual living, 25782 Obrero Dr. Unit D
Mission Viejo CA 92691, at 11:00am on Sat 10/29.

Andrew, James and Alex – What a wonderful wife and mom you shared. She touched all our lives because of her joy and love for her family and life itself. She lived each moment to the fullest and never wasted her time on “fluff”. Let’s keep her legacy alive by embracing life and being kind to all.

  2. I first met Sheila when we were 11. We lived a few miles apart, and quickly became firm friends. We stayed in each others homes, mingled with each others families, went to school together, shared our growing up years and teenage secrets. In my heart, Sheila became the sister I had always yearned for. (Eventually I did get a sister of my own) Our lives took us in different directions after school, but that closeness never left us. We would go months, sometimes years, without seeing each other, but would always pick up just where we left off. I was saddened at the news that Sheila, Andrew and the boys were moving to California, but at the same time happy for them. I have followed the news of her illness with absolute admiration for her courage. She has been an inspiration to all around her. I saw her for the last time last summer, she looked amazing and beamed happiness. I find it difficult to imagine the world going on without her. She was a diamond, who could light up the darkest corner. I will miss her all the days of my life, and one day we will meet up again in the easy, familiar way. Andrew, James, Alex, Helga, Dawn, Clive and Duncan (partners and children) my heart breaks for you and with you. Sheila, shine on you crazy diamond. With love, Marilyn and family.

We have such wonderful memories of Christmas parties at the Boswell’s. The food was surpassed only by the fun with colleagues and friends.

    Sheila we will miss you.
