Sheila Boswell, aged 56, resident of Mission Viejo California, passed away peacefully on Monday October 17th 2016 after a 4 1/2 year long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hereford UK on Feb 28th 1960 she is survived by her husband of 33 years Andrew and her two sons James and Alex.

Sheila loved life and was loved by all those who came to know her, she was a joy and light to so many people. Children and gardening were her main focus from the beginning of her many years of service to others, as a carer and a pre-school assistant teacher. When she received her cancer diagnosis in 2012 she became a member of the American Cancer Society and Co-Chair of the Relay for Life movement. She was a Hero for Hope speaker and devoted much of her time to helping others cope with a cancer diagnosis. Despite her own difficult condition she remained positive and filled with joy and love, as one dear friend stated she made pain look beautiful and found peace among the chaos.

A celebration of life will be held at InSpirit Center for Spiritual living, 25782 Obrero Dr. Unit D
Mission Viejo CA 92691, at 11:00am on Sat 10/29.

Sheila always had a smile on her face when she would come into our dental office. It was very uplifting for me. Really enjoyed chatting with her. I will be praying for you all.
    May God be with you,

  4. Sheila loved her family and friends, and was loved by everyone. She loved good company and good food. She was a generous and compassionate friend; a loving, caring gardener of people and flowers. She always had a big smile. I will miss you Sheila… Sezer

  5. My sincere sympathies to Andrew and all of Sheila’s family who will miss her vibrant and luminous presence.

I met Sheila only a year ago, as she was walking her dog past my garden, and of course, we spent a couple of hours discussing gardening, dogs, life, and Relay for Life. Over the next several months, we bonded over our past shared experiences with cancer and our constant search for new and different plants and flowers. In addition, I met her beautiful family as they gathered around to support her and saw them return to her the years of love she had given to them.

When I joined Sheila’s All-Stars for the Relay for Life in June, I saw her amazing multitude of friends and heard their unstinting praise of her abilities and her character. In the short time I was privileged to know her, we enjoyed visits, talks, and planning garden strategies. This summer, when she wasn’t feeling up to a lot of walking and was needing to get out of the house, we had a great day driving through a large wholesale nursery, visiting thousand of plants and flowers while making great plans for her garden. I wish I had taken a picture of her that day, because that is the way I will always remember her sitting with her feet up, absolutely glowing in the sunlight, laughing with mischief and the joy of being out and about, and always planning the future.

Sheila personified the greatest attributes any woman (and any person) can possess: Grace, Love, Courage, Strength, Patience, Joy, Fortitude, and unending Hope. She was the bravest woman I have ever met.
