Sheila Boswell, aged 56, resident of Mission Viejo California, passed away peacefully on Monday October 17th 2016 after a 4 1/2 year long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hereford UK on Feb 28th 1960 she is survived by her husband of 33 years Andrew and her two sons James and Alex.

Sheila loved life and was loved by all those who came to know her, she was a joy and light to so many people. Children and gardening were her main focus from the beginning of her many years of service to others, as a carer and a pre-school assistant teacher. When she received her cancer diagnosis in 2012 she became a member of the American Cancer Society and Co-Chair of the Relay for Life movement. She was a Hero for Hope speaker and devoted much of her time to helping others cope with a cancer diagnosis. Despite her own difficult condition she remained positive and filled with joy and love, as one dear friend stated she made pain look beautiful and found peace among the chaos.

A celebration of life will be held at InSpirit Center for Spiritual living, 25782 Obrero Dr. Unit D
Mission Viejo CA 92691, at 11:00am on Sat 10/29.

Sheila will be remembered for her warmth and deep affection for anyone she met and I,(Jan Smith) was fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of that warmth and love, whenever I met her. She will be truly missed by her family, and all who knew her. My love and prayers are with you all. Jan x

Sheila lived and loved more fully with a cancer diagnosis than most people do in a lifetime. Her positive outlook, determination, and ultimately calm acceptance of the inevitable has been inspirational to all who knew her. I will always treasure my memories of times I spent with her. She exuded love, wit, kindness, and compassion. Her spirit lives on in her family and others whose lives she touched.
    Love,
    Karen Smith

Andrew, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I will always remember the warm welcome extended by Sheila when visiting your home with my daughter Caitlin. We were on the college tour and the dinner invite was a welcome respite. Sheila was in the hot tub, when she realized Caitlin did not have a bathing suit; she jumped out; provided one of her own and ensured Caitlin was fully engaged with your friends and family. My daughter has often mentioned the empathy and awareness she experienced that night. A life lesson from Sheila.

  4. Sheila, us three have known you and the boys for nearly 20 years. Your house was our home away from home. Every party, seeing the new millennium in together 16 years ago and all the other things our families did together…. you will be missed more than you know. You were like a second mom to us. We will miss you so much. Sending our love to Andrew, James and Alex. We are here for all of you.

  5. Our world has lost one of the brightest stars. Never has a woman fought the battle with such great dignity, perseverance, courage, and positive attitude. My sincere condolence to Andrew and the boys. She never failed to mention how much she used the quilt I made her; it was always more important that she made others feel good regardless of how terrible she felt. She will forever be my HERO, and inspire me.
