Obituary

Saundra Harrington Antenesse, 63, very much loved and loving wife, best friend and soul-mate for 38 years to David Antenesse of Mission Viejo, California. Loving mother to Christopher and Michelle, Mother in-law to Kristen, Grandmother to Miranda and Jacob. Sister-in-law to Mike and Theresa Antenesse of Pasadena, Aunt to John Harrington and his wife Kim of Aliso Viejo, Aunt to Robbie and Tonielle Antenesse and Great-aunt to Dalton and Karlie Harrington.

Saundra was a good friend to many and touched the hearts of all those she met in a special way. She gave from her heart and opened her home to many people over the years – children whose parents worked, David’s work colleagues spending holidays in Orange County away from home, foreign exchange students from many countries, grandparents and her father who needed a place to stay and be cared for.

Saundra was born in Altadena, California to John Harrington Jr and Dolores Casteel Harrington and raised in Southern California and spent her high school years in San Antonio, Texas with her mother and step-father Aubrey (Al) Antilley. Saundra then moved to Kansa City with her mother when Al deployed to Vietnam and Saundra worked with her Mom and best friend Debbie in the hotel business.

Saundra and David met in Kansas City, Missouri in 1972 in their early twenties and were married on April 5, 1973 in New York City. They lived in Jensen Beach, Florida and then New York City before relocating to South Orange County in 1978, where they have lived since then, in the same Mission Viejo home for the past 30 years. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Chris and Michelle, both born and raised in Mission Viejo. Saundra was a great mother and wife, always knowing and understanding her family’s needs.

Saundra’s best friends have been her friends for as long as 30 to 40+ years. Debbie Rivera from Kansas City, Gisele Guecia from Coupiere France, Arlene Corey from Irvine, Connie Oftedahl from Mission Viejo, Olga Watkins from Menefee and so many, many more.

She was room mother, team mom, den mother, assistant coach, religious education teacher, cooked for high school students on retreat, active in church functions and she was the mom on the block that could always be counted on to pick up kids at school and get them to home or to various lessons. Saundra inspired her children with values that have and will always serve them well throughout their lives.

Saundra was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She had a special sense of humor. Friends and family that came to visit would always stay late, just enjoying her smile, her conversation, sense of humor, and hospitality. She had fantastic culinary skills and made the most special meals for friends and family – always with left-overs to send home.

Saundra loved to travel with David and during the last 12 years they had many great trips. They lived in The Netherlands for almost two years and traveled to many European countries, but her favorite place was Florence, Italy and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Saundra and David returned there a few years ago for a wonderful vacation. Just recently, Saundra and David enjoyed an Alaskan cruise with best friend Debbie Rivera and afterwards enjoyed a few days in Victoria, BC, Canada before ferrying back to Seattle for the flight home. Saundra enjoyed traveling but always loved returning home to her family and friends.

Saundra will be missed so much by David, Chris, Michelle, Kristen, and her beautiful grandchildren, Miranda (7) and Jacob (3), all her family and all her friends.

David, How blessed I am to have known Saundra, a great and giving lady. We graduated from Harlandale High School together in 1966 in San Antonio, Texas yet we were only acquaintances then. Our beloved Godson, Alec, brought us together as you two and Steve and I were all Godparents to this wonderful young man. A little bit of Saundra lives in all of us.
    In Christ’s love, Gaby Hill
