Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sara Lynn Vuoso (Ricci), beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who left this world on June 11, 2026. Sara passed peacefully at home in Ladera Ranch, CA, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous six-year journey as a survivor and thriver of brain cancer.

Born on February 15, 1977, in Pittsburgh, PA, Sara was the cherished daughter of Albert Ricci and Angela Ricci (DiFalco). Her early years were filled with love and laughter, enriched by the wisdom and stories from her grandparents, Albert Ricci "Blue," Helen Ricci (Pinciaro), Edmund DiFalco "Iggy," and Florence DiFalco (DiCrease), who predeceased her.

Sara's journey through life was marked by her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She graduated from Spring Hill High School in Longview, TX in 1995, before pursuing higher education at Texas Christian University, where she graduated in 1999. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for teaching led her to earn a Master's in Education and a teaching credential from Western Governors University in 2020.

Sara served as an acquisitions officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1999 to 2005, contributing to the Milstar Satellite Program and attaining the rank of Captain. Her service embodied the dedication and strength in the next chapter of her life, where she inspired students and shared her love of learning as an educator in mathematics.

On July 11, 2003, Sara married the love of her life, Paul Vuoso in San Pedro, CA. Together, they built a life filled with love, devotion, and faith, raising two wonderful sons, Adam and Jake Vuoso. Sara considered her role as a mother her proudest achievement, and she dedicated herself wholly to nurturing and guiding her boys in the ways of love and faith.

A devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ladera Ranch, Sara's faith guided her life. Her involvement in the parish community was a reflection of her generous spirit and unwavering commitment to her beliefs.

Sara embraced life with passion, finding joy in running, pickleball, and the warmth of her kitchen. Her homemade pasta, sausages, and meatballs were a labor of love, shared generously and remembered fondly by all who gathered with her.

Sara is survived by her devoted husband, Paul, their sons, Adam and Jake, her beloved parents, Albert and Angela, and her brother, Brian (Katie) Ricci and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will live on in all who know her.

Visitation with prayer will be held from 6:30 - 8:30 P.M. on June 24, 2026 followed by a funeral mass celebrating Sara's remarkable life to be held at 12:00 P.M on June 25, 2026. Both events will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ladera Ranch, CA. Interment and reception to follow.

The family welcomes flowers to be sent to O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, CA (949) 581-4300, or, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Teamwork Response.
