Obituary

Sara Lee Anderson, 86, passed away on February 5th, 2017. She was born on April 9th, 1930 in Jackson, Mississippi to Ester and Annie Dovie Banks Bridges. She was one of seven children, including Lee Etha, Odessa, Evessa, Mary, Susie, and James.

Sara grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and graduated from Lanier High School. After high school, she attended post-secondary school at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California, where she received an Associate Arts degree. Sara was an elementary school teacher on the island of Guam; a juvenile counselor at Orange County Juvenile Hall; and a system analyst for Rockwell International in Newport Beach, California. She was a proud member of Democratic Party, for which she served as a delegate.

Sara married the love of her life, Victor Anderson Jr., on December 17th, 1948 in Jackson, Mississippi. They were happily married for 65 years. Sara was an avid reader and loved gardening, crocheting, knitting, attending outdoor sporting events and, above of all, family. Her taste in music ran the gamut from jazz to classical to pop, especially the vocal stylings of Tom Jones. She loved soap operas and her favorite was the Young and the Restless.

Sara is survived by her children Marvette, Gary, Patricia, Victor, Michele, Eric, Brian, Tracy and James. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Lisa, Evan, Rene, Sean, nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents Ester and Annie Dovie Banks Bridges; her loving husband, Victor Anderson Jr.; and siblings Evessa, Odessa, Susie, James, Mary and Lee Etha.

A funeral service will be held March 11th at 9:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann’s Church, 5101 Alton Parkway, Irvine, CA 92604. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation (pediatric cancer research) at https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/Victor2017.

  1. Sarah, my beautiful beloved Aunt. She knew what she wanted out of life, she strive and achieved it. I think everyone would agree that your smile could blind a sighted person. One of my childhood memories, are of a classy teenage girl with a dynamic personality, who took pride in her faultless attire, wearing starched iron clothes to school everyday.
