  1. To the entire Spano Family,

I am so deeply sorry for the loss of my Aunt Sandy. My fondest memories were Christmas dinners spent at Nanu & Nana’s house all seated around the huge dinning table with all my cousins and Aunt Sandy & Uncle Al, eating octopus, arancini, spiedini, pasta and Nana’s cookies. Especially the time the table broke and all the food slid onto Nanu’s lap and we all tried our hardest not to laugh. God rest your soul Aunt Sandy. Prayers for peace for my entire family.

    Much love,
Mike, Prudy, Caitlin, Kelsey, Meghan & Theresa Canfield

  2. To the entire Spano clan and extended family- my deepest condolences. What an amazing person Aunt Sandy was. So generous, gregarious and kind, and deeply insightful. I so admire that she seemed to grow in depth and understanding her entire life– I had many a conversation with her in recent years and she was always so giving and wise and amazingkt adaptive. I will miss talking to her and her cheery, loving messages on every holiday. She left the world a much better place because of her life and love.
    Love,
    Roe

  3. I emailed Sandy several days before she passed to tell her I thought her decision was very brave and I hoped her journey would be peaceful.
An image that comes to mind is that of Sandy in a wheelchair flying down a hill in San Francisco with the girls running along side. Her eyes are as big as saucers but she is holding on and grinning ear to ear.
“Grief is just love with no place to go”. So simple but full of wisdom
We will see you again, Sandy.

  5. I have many fond memories of our beautiful Aunt Sandy. She always made us laugh with her incredible sense of humor. I am so glad my mom and I visited her and Uncle Albert in both Wisconsin and California. I especially recall a trip back in 1996 when they drove us up to Dor County and we stayed overnight. Later they drove us to a restaurant which had sheep grazing on a thatch roof. I thought they were “pulling our legs” about this story until they proved their point. What a sight! I am grateful that my mom played “match maker” and introduced her baby brother to Aunt Sandy. Love, Roe and Jay
