July 29, 1963 – June 10, 2014

On June 10, 2014, Sandra “Sandy” Lynne Shew (née Lunde) passed away at Saddleback Memorial Hospital in Laguna Hills, California after a brief rare illness. Sandy was 50 years old.

Sandy Shew was born in La Puente, CA at 8:49 PM on July 29, 1963 to Barbara and Gordon Lunde and was the youngest of three children.

She grew up in Covina, CA, was active in Girls Scouts, and graduated from Charter Oak High School. She was athletic, playing basketball, and enjoyed spending time with her friends and frequent trips to Lake Mohave, boating with her family.

Sandy had a successful career in accounting, assisting a number of companies. She met her future husband Scott at a company social function and they were married on October 7, 1989 and lived in Valencia, CA. In 1999, Sandy and Scott moved to their current home in San Clemente, CA.

Her faith was very important to her. Sandy attended Compass Bible Church from its beginning. Sandy devoted her life to raising their two children Melissa (b. 1994) and Matthew (b. 1998) and making sure God’s word was at the center of their lives.

She was very active in the church and her children’s lives. Always ready to volunteer, she was a Girl Scout leader (10 yrs), Awana leader & secretary, and volunteered for hundreds of other church, school and sports functions.

Sports were a large part of her life. She was an avid San Diego Chargers fan and enjoyed many other outdoor activities including: kayaking, boating, fishing, hiking and playing golf regularly.

Sandy was preceded in death by her brother Gary and mother Barbara. She is survived by her husband, Scott; children Melissa and Matthew; father Gordon and sister Cheryl.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 10:00 am, at Compass Bible Church, 150 Columbia, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656.
