Samuel Anthony Barton, 82, was born on March 28, 1941, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and passed away peacefully in Bend Oregon on March 1, 2024. He joins his mother, Annetta, his father, Samuel, his sister, Carol, his beloved wife, Luckie, and his treasured son, Scottie. A proud veteran, Samuel served twenty-one years as a Marine and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He was a professor, negotiator, restaurateur, and a mentor to many. His legacy is carried by his family, Stephen, Brooke, Taylor, Lisa, and Linda.

Samuel had many passions, hobbies, and careers throughout his life. A proud veteran, Samuel dedicated twenty-one years to the Marine Corp. and retired a Master Gunnery Sergeant, serving as President Kennedy’s Honor Guard. He negotiated high profile contracts, filled lecture halls and classrooms, and lived a quiet, simple life with his wife of forty-five years, Luckie. He made many, many friends at the weekend Farmers Markets, and never turned down a good plate of Italian food or the chance to share his wealth of knowledge with a student, friend, or colleague. A man of faith, Samuel spent ample time in prayer and kept his heart close to God. To his loved ones, he was Uncle Buckie, Poppy, Sam, Dad, and Pops, but most importantly, he was the solid foundation from which his family blossomed. His life was incredible—too full to truly encapsulate—and his bright spirit never failed to illuminate the people around him.

Funeral Mass will be held at St Kilian Church on Friday March 22 ^nd at 11:30am, 26872 Estanciero Mission Viejo, CA 92691.

A private family burial will be held at Ascension Cemetery.
