Obituary
On Saturday, September 19, 2020, Sam Fiorentino, loving husband, and father, passed away at age 90.
Sam was born in February 1930, in Molfetta, Italy, to Michele and Porzia Fiorentino. As a young man, he attended naval school before joining the Italian Navy. Sam then joined the Italian Merchant Marines before immigrating to New York in his 20s. In search of a warmer climate, Sam ventured to sunny California, where he met and married his beloved wife, Lola, in September 1957. They raised two children, Michael and Michelle, and were married sixty-three beautiful years.
Sam had many jobs over the course of his life. He was a hard-working painter, furniture upholsterer, turkey grower, winemaker, and handyman. When Sam wasn’t working, his passions and pastimes included baking fresh bread and pizza, repairing and repurposing furniture, enjoying the ocean, camping, fishing, having pasta every Sunday with the family, watching Italian soccer, tending to his garden and beloved fruit trees, and sharing stories. Sam also accompanied Lola and family to church every Sunday and watched mass on the Italian station when he could no longer attend in person.
Sam is survived by his wife, two children, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one soon-to-be great-great-grandchild whom he loved dearly. Sam was a family and faith man, through and through; he touched so many lives and will always be remembered.
