Sally
Weiss
Aug 3, 1934 — Sep 23, 2026
Sally Sparkman Weiss began her time on this earth August 3, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, nestled in a comfy, quilt-lined dresser drawer. As her parents didn't expect twins, they hastily put twin #1 in the cradle and #2 — Sally — in the dresser drawer. Fortunately, older twin Daisy adored her sister and was never tempted to close the drawer.
Sally passed away September 23, 2026, in Laguna Hills, California. She was 92 years old.
In her early years Sally was a serious student of ballet and related dance. She loved school and all the activities associated with it. She was an excellent student and also participated in cheerleading, student government, and was a flautist in the orchestra and band.
After high school she went to Michigan State University and continued her involvement in school activities. Both Daisy and Sally were members of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Sally graduated with a degree in Public School Music. Later she earned a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University.
Sally taught school in Quartz Hill, California, for 23 years and loved her career, twice being named Teacher of the Year at Joe Walker Middle School.
After retirement Sally was active in the Retired Teachers Association, the American Association of University Women, the History Group, the Vocabulary Club, the Piano Group, and several Book Clubs. When the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD came to the Antelope Valley, Sally appointed herself Chairperson and actively promoted the operas with the support of the Valley Press and local aficionados.
The highlight of her life was her marriage of 69 years to devoted husband Richard, and raising four fabulous sons together. Together, Sally and Richard traveled all over the world from Southeast Asia to Russia to Egypt, and every place in between.
Sally is survived by loving husband Richard, and precious sons Kevin (wife Lan), Todd (wife Michelle), and Scott (wife Nicole), who in turn have added precious grandchildren Kristen, twins Austin and Ryan, and Brayden. Sally also is survived by her brother Hugh Sparkman.
Sally was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Mildred Sparkman, infant son Scott Jeffrey, adult son Mark Gregory, twin sister Daisy, and daughter-in-law Tracell.
Sally plans to be reincarnated in her next lives as a USC song girl, then as a prima ballerina, and finally as a stand-up comic. And so it goes ...
Sally's cremains will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean by her family at a later date.
If you wish to make a memorial donation in Sally's honor, please choose an organization that is meaningful to yourself, or consider Planned Parenthood or AAUW Tech Trek.
